The bird showed regularly down to c10 metres as it dashed out onto this feeding platform stocked for birds by the West Midlands Bird Club. Well worth the small £1 donation!!

Note that on a couple of the pictures you can still see the footprints of the bird, as it had just walked out from the water.

Water Pipit
"Drake Garganey, and Water Pipit from Willington Gravel Pits, Beds. All are excellent county birds. The story with the Water Pipits is interesting. One was found in October 2001 at Willington and was quite elusive but it stayed all winter and was a county tick for most who saw it. When it came to March is appeared that another bird had joined it, this time a summer plumaged bird. During March birders were reporting the summer plumage bird to be in differing states of plumage.
It was only when I got some good video of all the birds I saw did we piece together that there had actually been four individuals present throughout March!! As you can see, one is a stonking full summer plumaged adult! All are still present at the end of March." S.Blain
