(I was not prepared for the stunning views of the seabird colony.)

(This was confirmed later as Ian picked him up on his VHF Radio and we could see Farsain emerge from the Grey Dogs between Lunga and Scarba, heading straight for the Garvellachs.)

Portsmouth to Santurtzi - Pride of Bilbao - September 2001, author RICHARD J WESLEY (added February 9, 2006)
(On the outward trip we recorded Gannets(many), pied wagtail, fulmar, grey wagtail, great skua, white wagtail, sandwich tern, skua species, sabines gull(c40), great skua (4), feral rock dove (3).)

(This was planned as a bird watching trip and holiday with the emphasis on bird watching. This entailed birding from dawn 'til dusk most days with some time off for good behaviour. Although our base near Burgau was not ideal from the amount of travelling)

(We were not be disappointed as in the distance a Golden Eagle worked its way along the valley. It treated us to exceptional views as it passed and continued along the ridge. A wonderful end, to a day full of great birds.)

(Fine with good visibility, wind building to North Easterly 6 through Bay of Biscay)

Spanish Pyrenees, Belchite & Ebro Delta - 14th - 29th May 2003, author RICHARD J WESLEY (added February 10, 2006)
(Citril Finches were again in evidence feeding under pine trees near the carpark. We took the main track and were soon to be rewarded with stunning views of Wallcreeper on the second main face.)

(Bee Eaters were nesting in the sandy banks and Nightingale seemed to be singing everywhere.)

(A raptor was performing aerial diving manoeuvers close to the road. This strange ritual confused me at first, but to my delight, realised it was a male Hen Harrier.)

(A Raven cronked overhead as Paul informed me that the Sound of Ghia was one of the best over-wintering sites in Britain for Slavonian Grebes with up to fifty pairs in some winters.)
