Location: Bloody Bay, northwestern Tobago.
Directions: On the sea (!) Left side of bay.
Sightings: Probable Carribean Coot (Fulica caribaea)
Bought to my attention by a local ( Fred Schumann) as a "strange duck" which he disturbed off some rocks. The coot took to the water and I was able to get some distant images, however I'm unable to upload images until I return to UK next week. Ffrench draws attention to the similarity to the American Coot but this bird definitely has the white bill & frontal shield extending up over forehead & it looks BIG, like a small goose!!
