Stephen F. Bailey (Rockjumper Birding Tours)

USA 3110
I believe this total (3110) is the second-highest Year List of all time. (James F. Clements had 3631 back in 1989 as a planned Big Year.) It is worth noting that I barely left my apartment for the first two months of the year, and my total for the ten months March through December was 3105! I did not think of doing a Big Year until August. Although I only have one small trip planned for January-February 2008, my best-twelve-months list (March 2007 through February 2008) is likely to exceed 3200. Regions and highlights for the year: California (Snowy Owl), Borneo (Bristlehead); Cameroon (Quail-plover); Venezuela (Scissor-tailed Hummingbird); Papua New Guinea (Shovel-billed Kookaburra); Fiji (Orange Dove); Ecuador & Galapagos (991 species, 711 year birds, 93 hummingbirds, 12 antpitta species seen plus another three heard, Crested Eagle); South Africa (both rockjumpers [of course!]); Mexico [& one day Texas] (Nava's Wren, Rose-bellied Bunting).
