Added Lapland Bunting on trip to Portland in late November, a couple of pretty close Velvet Scoter on the Hayling Island oyster beds, and finally caught up with the White-tailed Eagle near Andover. A Christmas trip to meet up with family in Sussex gave me the opportunity to see the Long-tailed Duck on Hove Lagoon! This years lifers were: WHITE-BILLED DIVER, KENTISH PLOVER, SQUACCO HERON, WHITE-TAILED PLOVER, ROLLER, BLACK STORK, SHARP TAILED SANDPIPER, GREENISH WARBLER, ISABELLINE (TURKESTAN) SHRIKE and BLYTHE'S REED WARBLER. Other highlights were the Great Spotted Cuckoo at Dungeness, very close Great Northern Divers in Weymouth Bay, Lesser Yellowlegs and Twite at Thornham, the 'fall' on Portland on May 4th, Great Reed Warbler near Lydd, Dotterel at Oare, Spotted Crake at Ingrebourne Valley, the Norfolk Shrikes, Subalpine Warbler and Red-necked Phalarope and the above mentioned White-tailed Eagle - my second ever, and both in England! Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all, here's to a cracking 2008.

An odd year, mainly midland birding but with a couple of mad jaunts further a field for good measure but all great fun! Norfolk & Cornwall with the lads & mid and North Wales as always the main highlights! Bird wise, Pacific Diver, American Robin, Booted Warbler, Iberian Chiffy, White Tailed Plover, Purple Heron & lots of top midland gems to name just a few!
