Scaup
This stunning portrait of a female Greater Scaup was taken by Ben Miller at Millbrook, Cornwall. Ben has just invested in a Nikon Coolpix and EagleEye Adaptor. Impressive...

"I purchased a Nikon Coolpix 995 just before Christmas and by the end of the month had the vital attachment for my Swarovski AT80 HD. I've been simply amazed with the results ever since. After some 'playing' on my local patch, a twitch to see the Bonaparte's Gull at Millbrook gave me the chance to get some shots of good birds. This female Greater Scaup has been resident at Milbrook on and off since the winter of 1999. It was close in, resting with Mallards, so I was able to approach very close. At 120x I couldn't get the whole bird in the frame but it offered this unusual composition. Naturally I'm delighted with the result". Ben Miller
