| Szabi is a 29 year-old Hungarian and a full-time illustrator and artist since 2001. Before this he was working with BirdLife Hungary and on CITES. Szabi's artwork has gained recognition internationally including British Birds' PJC Award and third place (twice) in Bird illustrator of the year. Check out his web page: www.kokay.hu
Szabi takes up the story. "There's a fishpond system close to my home, where some very good rarities turned up last and this year. Most recently our first American Golden Plover was seen there, and some 2-3 Sociable Lapwings were also reported. I tried to see these latter rarities twice, but without luck. It's probably because I haven't payed enough attention trying to find them, but spent most of the time sketching other birds including these Lapwings."
"On 4th Nov. after dipping Sociable Lapwings twice, I could successfully twitch 2 MEGA-s on the same pond, our 1st American Golden Plover and our 2nd Semipalmated Sandpiper. There was some time to do some sketches of Lapwings.."
