The Society of Wildlife Artists Annual Exhibition 2007

The Mall Galleries, London

'Bait digger and brents' by Bruce Pearson

'Bait digger and brents' by Bruce Pearson

Leading exponents of the wildlife art genre from across the world will be exhibiting at the 44th annual exhibition, along with successful lesser-known artists selected from the open submission. The guest artist is Guy Taplin, celebrated for his beautiful driftwood sculpture. Once again Capmark generously sponsor Bursaries and £5000 worth of prizes.

With almost 500 paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings on display, the Society of Wildlife Artists forthcoming Annual Exhibition is the place to view and buy the very best of contemporary wildlife art by internationally renowned artists. The exhibition takes place at the Mall Galleries in central London (near Trafalgar Square) from 26th September to 7th October 2007.

Artist, Bruce Pearson, when asked what line of work he does replies, 'an artist', and then when asked what sort of art says, 'sort of controlled scribbling about nature and landscape'. But in recent years, because of having to explain for publication or broadcast the nature of his work, Bruce has had to think harder about what he does, why he does it, and where he think it all might be heading. So here's his brief ‘mission statement'.

“Obsessed by the natural world, I work as often as the opportunities arise out in the wild where and landscape, and sometimes people, interact creating powerful images and dramatic themes that reflect my obsession, and our relationship with nature. It is the rhythm and restlessness of the natural world which fascinates, and which I try to capture."

Past President of the Society of Wildlife Artists, Bruce has painted professionally for over 28 years. In that time he has been lucky enough to travel widely in search of subjects from the Arctic and Antarctica, to Africa, much of Europe, and more recently, the Caribbean and North America. However, much of his time is spent in East Anglia - either working out in the field, or in his Cambridgeshire studio.
