We spent two weeks birding the majority of central, western and northern Thailand. We managed to see just under 350 species in a matter of two weeks, completely unguided. Unfortunately, an early monsoon and the consequent weather conditions severely limited some of the sites we were at. None the less, we had an extremely successful trip and were particularly impressed with Thailand and the people themselves.

Our route was intended to run a clockwise route as follows : Bangkok to Laem Pak Bia and Pak Thale. West to Kaeng Krachen, then north to Mae Wong. North west to Doi Inthanon, followed by Doi Ang Kang on the Myanmar border before heading further north to Chiang Saen. Due to weather conditions, we cut Chiang Saen out and proceeded south east instead to Phitsanulok for the night and then east to Nam Nao. Then due south to Khao Yai before completing the circle back to Bangkok vis the Muang Boran Fish Ponds.
