Hummingbird

This was our second trip on this tour. It’s all inclusive, food, lodging, transport and guides. The eco-lodges are in pristine areas, comfortable and very clean. The food is prepared fresh and is excellent. The guide is mostly Dr. Jorge Cruz and he excels at finding the birds, knows their songs and can focus the scope at lightning speed and your chance of seeing the bird is very good.

At San Jorge/Tandayapa Lodge we saw 40 species of hummingbirds, tanagers, Toucanet and the Golden Quetzal and all this before breakfast. In Milpe, the group saw a Banded Ground Cuckoo, a very rare find. We then relaxed a few days and then we were off for the altitude birding. Yanacocha gave us Hummingbirds, Antisana and the Pappalacta Pass gave us 9 Andean Condors and at San Jorge/Cosanga, where there are plans for a new Lodge, The Cock of the Rock flew by us. We totaled 350 species in the 2 weeks including 40 species of hummingbirds, tanagers, and the Golden Quetzal.
