Taman Negara is a large National Park located in the middle of mainland Malaysia. Kuala Tahan, the tourist village at the southern end of the Park, is accessible by public transportation, and boasts a variety of lodgings and food for every budget.

Below is a list of birds seen on 4 separate winter visits, between December 2008 and November 2011. Each 7-day visit produced about 125 species. March seemed to be the best time to go, as the rainy season is just ending (but not over!), and winter visitors and passage migrants add to the resident bird population. All birds were seen within a 4KM radius of the Mutiara Resort grounds. Leeches, mosquitoes and humid weather abound.

I used Craig Robson's "Field Guide to the Birds of Southeast Asia".
