Our home state of New Hampshire would not renew our driver's licenses remotely, so without access to a rental car, we arranged our itinerary around public transport: buses, taxis, shuttles and the Cape Town/Simon's Town train. We flew into Cape Town late in the afternoon and prepped for our prebooked Intercape bus trip to Plettensberg Bay early next morning. The bus was comfortable enough and on schedule, though listening to radio preachers blare at us about our coming damnation at full volume was tiresome and presumptuous. We were met at the 'Plett' bus stop by staff members of Wild Spirit Backpackers who shuttled us (for about $12) to our first stay in Nature's Valley.
