On the first day of the 2nd annual Hawai'i Island Festival of Birds, I helped lead 26 participants on a five-hour pelagic trip from Honokohau Harbor near Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i Island, USA. We spent most of the time up to 20 miles southwest of Kailua-Kona. This was first of two pelagic trips of the festival weekend.
