Eighteen participants from across the country experienced a unique oceanic odyssey of the deep waters along the North and South Kona coast. Although Pterodroma petrels regularly pass through the Hawaiian Islands as migrants, encountering double-digit counts on an eight-hour pelagic adventure are very special occasions (several made close approaches to the boat).
