RUSSELL'S VIPER
RUSSELL'S VIPER

I discovered a long-fanged Russell's Viper Daboia russeli in Meerpur village of Kheri District, Uttar Pradesh.

This viper has two compelete heads. I observed that this snake is very weak and not doing activities like other snakes.

Villagers captured this baby snake and shifted it into a small bamboo box. Every morning they were going to the agricultural fields along with the viper. People believe that this two headed snake is a holy snake. According to hindu mythology villagers protect him (snake) and worship with the Dhoop and Agarbatti every morning in a Lord Shiva Temple.
