Black-breasted Thrush, China, Chongqing, 14 Jul 2023

This was taken in Chongqing on 14 July 2023. It is a juvenile thrush, and I suspect Black-breasted thrush but this would be extralimital and also lower altitude than expected. The other option is Japanese Thrush which has a few records in Chongqing but morphologically I see more resemblance with BB Thrush (e.g. photo and illustration in the species treatment in Oiseaux.com. Also I think the orange spotted wing bars accord with the description of BBT juvenile in Birds of the World. Can those with experience of juveniles of these species comment on this ID?experience.

At the time I put this down as a dark-backed Western gull. But the legs look yellow. Kelp gull?

If the beak were black, I'd guess it was a Black Phoebe.

Common Sandpiper, Scotland, Near Oban, 1 May 2017

Firecrestphoto@aol.com
Unusual plumage on Common Sandpiper. Faint spotted feather pattern on breast, flanks, belly and undertail coverts reminiscent of Spotted. Wing and tail length Common Sandpiper. Is this a hybrid?

Common Sandpiper, Scotland, Near Oban, 1 May 2017

Firecrestphoto@aol.com
Unusual pattern on bird. Note undertail coverts and extensive grey spotting on breast flanks and belly. This bird has the shape of a Common Sandpiper but with some plumage features similar to Spotted. Possible hybrid perhaps. Any ideas?
